Responding to emerging needs - what’s the future of social work in England?

10am to 11am. Join our Executive Director Sarah Blackmore in a collaborative session to mark the opening of Social Work Week 2025. She will be joined by Sarah McClinton, Chief Social Worker for Adults and Mental Health, Isabelle Trowler, Chief Social Worker for Children and Families, and Sally Parker, member of our National Advisory Forum.

Safeguarding, identity and wellbeing in the age of social technology and AI

11.30am to 12.30pm. An evidence-based session reflecting on the possibilities and implications of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and its significance for safeguarding.

Retention in adult and children's social work: a new theory of change

1.30pm to 2.30pm. An introduction on how a theory of change model can improve social worker retention. We will explore 2 major research studies to consider the concept of critical career episodes. We will also explore the identification of a three-factor career pathway model.

"You shouldn’t lose your home without advice”: a co-produced campaign

3pm to 4pm. We share the aims of a campaign to promote older people’s right to have a named a social worker when they face the loss of the place they call home because of care needs.
