Thank you from government

Yesterday the Secretary of State for Education and the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care shared a joint letter acknowledging the hard work of social workers throughout the emergency response to COVID-19.

The contribution of the profession at this unprecedented time is recognised across government and across the country. Social work plays a key part in supporting people and communities at critical moments. Social workers across children and adult services are working tirelessly at this time showing the true value of the profession.

The response to Social Work Together also highlights how this is a sector that puts people first. Huge thanks to nearly 1,000 people who have already registered their interest in returning to practice. If you’re currently registered as a social worker and not practising or you have left the register within the last two years and would like to return, you can find out more and apply here.

To once again echo the words within this letter, we ‘thank the entire sector, including those returning to it, for stepping up to this challenge with such dedication and determination’.
