Social Work England annual report and accounts 2025 to 2026

Social Work England – the specialist regulator for social workers in England – has published its annual report and accounts for 2025 to 2026. This summarises our performance for our work from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.

Overall, our performance was broadly in line with what we set out to achieve in our business plan for the year. We achieved 10 of 11 of the business objectives we set out to achieve and met 15 of 18 of our key performance indicator targets. Some of our work, including the development of our next strategy, was paused during this timeframe to await the recommendations of the Independent Review of Social Work Professional Regulation in England. Further details of our performance can be found in pages 30 to 48 of the report.

The Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA) also concluded that we met 16 out of 18 standards of good regulation.
