One of the ways we work with the social work sector is through our national advisory forum. The forum include people from partner organisations, registered social workers, people with lived experience of social work, education and training providers and students.
The national advisory forum provides expert advice, support and challenge to our work and how we achieve our objectives.
This is a unique opportunity to get involved with a national organisation at an important time in our development. You will work with other people committed to raising standards and with an interest in social work.

Who can apply
We are currently looking for people with lived experience of social work to become members of our national advisory forum.
A person with lived experience of social work is someone who has received support from a social worker at some point in their lives or has supported an immediate family member who has. You could still be receiving that support now, or have received it previously. This can include but is not limited to: care leavers, adoptive parents, carers, those who have been supported by children and families social work or adults social work including mental health, physical heath or learning disabilities.
To be considered for this role, you must be:
- able to attend meetings 6 times a year (virtually or in person)
- willing to challenge and give constructive feedback
- able to understand and reflect on information and ask questions
- organised and have good time management skills
- respectful of others
- able to communicate with different people
- know about our role as the regulator
- supportive of our goals and agree with our values
Reimbursement and payments for our experts by experience will be made in line with our policy.
