Call for contributions to Social Work Week

10/19/2020 3:31:46 PM

Social Work England, the specialist regulator for over 100,000 social workers in England, is offering people the opportunity to contribute to the very first major nationwide event of its kind. Social Work Week will take place from 8 to 12 March 2021 with the aim of bringing people together to learn, connect, and engage on the values and principles which form the backbone of effective social work practice.

Social Work England is looking for anyone with an interest in social work to put forward ideas for virtual workshops, presentations, speaker slots, wellbeing activities and creative performances. You could be a social worker, social work student, person with lived experience of social work, employer, organisation or an education provider. Anyone with creative ideas and suggestions should submit an interest on the regulator’s website by 5pm on Sunday 15 November.

The main criteria for submissions are that they should be accessible to all and reflect at least one of the key themes for the event:

  • Understanding your regulator
  • Social work and me: living the professional standards
  • Equality, diversity, and inclusion: social work perspectives
  • What is next for social work?

To answer any questions ahead of the submission deadline, Social Work England is holding online sessions about how to get involved on Thursday 22 October (6pm to 7.30pm) and Wednesday 28 October (2pm to 3.30pm). If you would like to attend, please email [email protected] to book a place.

People with lived experience and people on social work courses can make an application for financial support to deliver their contribution to Social Work Week 2021. Anyone requiring information in another format or an adjustment to the process should call 0808 196 2274 or email [email protected].

Tickets for Social Work Week 2021 have not yet been released, but Social Work England are encouraging all those with an interest in attending the event to sign up to receive updates on the Social Work England website.
