What our people say about working at Social Work England
"Social Work England offers a lot of flexibility and has embraced flexible working since it’s inception. Like many organisations, we have increased hybrid working practices to offer additional flexibility. But we also have a vibrant and energetic office space which helps support collaboration and creativity.
The culture is built on kindness, inclusion, compassion and support alongside a clear purpose which really enables people to come together. I can feel a shared commitment to do better personally and organisationally which I really value."
"What stands out to me about Social Work England is the freedom and flexibility. It varies around the organisation but in my role, I do compressed hours and work mostly from home. This means I can fit my work around my life, and not the other way around.
They're really supportive if you have additional health needs, or childcare responsibilities, or even if you just want to try a different approach to work. They trust you to get things done, in whatever way works best for you. And if things aren't working, the culture is so open and honest that you feel empowered to speak up. They encourage you to advocate for your needs."
"It’s a great place to work. It’s not just progressing up, there are always opportunities for learning new skills. Hard work is recognised and you are supported to move into different areas if that’s what you want to do. You don’t feel like a number, you feel valued and respected here."
"The organisation pushes and challenges you, there is always something to learn. Developing is not just about promotion, its learning new skills and building confidence. I think about how much I have developed and grown through challenge and feedback and I’ve not finished growing yet!
Everyone in the organisation has a lot to bring and are encouraged to share their skills and life skills. I value the sense of humour through life’s challenges. I think I have laughed every day I have worked here."
"You will be challenged. A lot is asked of you but you are in the right kind of place. There is always time for people to talk about the work reflectively. Though the work can be difficult, you support each other through the challenges."
"I feel well supported. The focus on health and wellbeing is real and the one-to-one form explicitly asks about wellbeing. It’s a transparent and open culture.
People are here for the right reason, working in the best ways to get the best outcome. I really enjoy the work and the feeling I am making a difference. What comes across is the absolute commitment to the values. Diversity is embedded every day, it’s a diverse group of colleagues."
"As well as expertise, people bring a passion to contribute to public service and a commitment to do it really well here. I like the spirit of the organisation. It is genuinely unlike anywhere else I have ever worked and that’s because every individual employed here has had a hand in creating it.
The people here are one of a kind, they are a special bunch. Everyone is here for a common cause and to play their part in propelling the organisation forward. They are kind and caring. There is always something to keep you on your toes and no two days are ever the same, but there is always a commitment to support, to rally round and to find solutions to impossible problems."
