Jillian is a registered social worker with a background in work with older people. She began her social work career in 1993 working in Edinburgh.
Jillian is passionate about the provision of good quality support and services for older people. Most of her frontline social work practice has been in services for older adults.
As well as frontline practice, Jillian has worked in a range of management roles, including a locality team, commissioning services and workforce development. She also spent 4 years at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen where she was a social work lecturer.
After relocating to Dorset in 2016, Jillian worked briefly for the Alzheimer's Society before taking up a post with Dorset Council as a social worker for older adults and people living with physical disabilities. She is currently taking some time out of work and is a full time carer.
Jillian is committed to social justice and believes that social work has an important role to play in supporting people and communities to achieve their potential. She hopes to make a positive contribution to the work of Social Work England through the National Advisory Forum.
