Leonard Agere
Leonard is a social worker in a children with disabilities team in Devon.
Leonard has experience of working in a variety of roles in children’s social work services in Zimbabwe, South Africa and the UK.
He’s passionate about collaborative working to ensure integrated, holistic, and multidisciplinary approaches to safeguarding and young people. He strongly believes in relationship-based practice, rights-based approaches, equality, diversity and inclusion in social work practice.
Leonard holds a PhD in social work and has conducted research into child poverty and social protection mechanisms. He has presented on this at international social work conferences in Rwanda, Republic of Ireland and Uganda.
He has knowledge and skills in formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of relief and development projects and programmes with non-governmental organisations. He also has experience of independent and consultancy work which has included training, mentoring, assessing and capacity building.
Leonard supports many children in poverty-stricken communities in Zimbabwe, helping them access education, nutrition, and health care.
He is thrilled to be part the National Advisory Forum, a diverse, knowledgeable group and looks forward to contributing to the forum, alongside learning from other members.
