People and development business partner

Our people business partners work with teams, managers and key stakeholders to develop and implement people plans and strategies in line with business needs. The team have an excellent understanding of our organisation, strategy and customers, and the people challenges and opportunities.

The role

This role is initially a fixed term contract until 30 June 2023

Our people business partners work with teams, managers and key stakeholders to develop and implement people plans and strategies in line with business needs. The team have an excellent understanding of our organisation, strategy and customers, and the people challenges and opportunities.

This role will also lead on embedding our new enterprise resource planning system and processes across the people and development team, developing robust process and procedure within the team, providing tangible benefit and efficiencies.

Open to job share, compressed hours and flexible working patterns.

Salary

£38,212 per year, rising to £40,278 per year after successful completion of a 6-month probationary period.

Location

Our offices are in Sheffield. We offer a hybrid model of working subject to business needs, so a mix of office working and working from home.

What you will do

  • Work with peers on delivering the people element of the business plan for 2022 to 2023
  • Provide input into the people element of our next corporate strategy
  • Lead on support and guidance to our managers within the directorate responsible for managing concerns raised about social workers
  • Provide advice and support policy, procedures, and complex employee relations, ensuring our approach is legally compliant, fair and consistent.  This will include the management of employee relations casework
  • Lead on the embedding of our enterprise resource planning system including realising benefits and efficiencies
  • Develop robust operating procedures to provide assurance in our process.
  • Produce people management information to inform people planning, and effective decision making
  • Lead specific time bound improvements and embed change
  • Influence and build relationships with senior leadership and other stakeholders to resolve challenges within the organisation
  • Identify and mitigate risk in relation to all people matters
  • Maintain own continuing professional development (CPD) ensuring an up-to-date knowledge of people trends and work with others to share resources and good practice

Your skills, knowledge and experience

  • Experience in working as a business partner or generalist in a busy organisation, with relevant qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience and understanding of HR systems and working with enterprise resource planning systems
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team of people and development peers, sharing knowledge and identifying areas for improvement
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Results focused and committed to achieving goals
  • Experience of giving professional challenge, supported by credible reasoning and evidence
  • Ability to generate solutions that meet individual and business needs
  • Strong negotiating skills, able to work with others to achieve results of value and improve business efficiency
  • Ability to interpret complex people data and develop key KPI’s
  • Experience of measuring return on investment on people and people development activities, to achieve organisational objectives
